2009 Newsletter

Two years have gone by so fast and we would like to thank all of you for helping to make Cascadia Equine such
a huge success.

Many of you attended our Albany and Newport lecture series on the equine digestive system, equine dentistry,
emergency medicine, horse care on a budget, and bandaging.  We had a great time presenting these and will
continue the series this year.  We also did a lower leg anatomy seminar for the Oregon Farrier’s Association
winter meeting and a number of classes for the Salem and Eugene Pony Clubs this last year.  Working with
these young horse lovers is always fun and energizing.

We spent time volunteering at the Horse Health Day, sponsored by Linn County Horse Rescue.  We were also
the on-site veterinarian for an endurance ride in Sisters, the Oregon State Fair in Salem, and the Combined
Driving Event at Inavale Farms in Philomath.

For continuing education, Chris attended the American Association of Equine Practitioners National
Conventions, the Minnesota Advanced Equine Dentistry Series, a 3 day seminar on wound healing and a 2 day
Advanced Equine Podiatry seminar.  Chris was joined at the FEMA certified Large Animal Rescue course by
three members of the Mid-Valley Chapter of Oregon Equestrian Trails.  What a great time, despite the chilly
temperatures!

We owe a great deal of the success of the business to the wonderful assistants that ride along to lend a hand.
Special congratulations to Megan on completing her DVM from OSU and Shawna for only having one term left
on her veterinary technician training.  Megan Hunsaker and Eryn McGowan also deserve a special thank you for
putting up with Chris on some very long days in the truck.

Thank you all for making Cascadia Equine such a success and making us part of your and your horse’s lives.
