The American Association of Equine Practitioner's work includes the
development and promotion of recommended practice guidelines; support for
research, training and education; advocacy on behalf of the horse, veterinarians
and horse owners; and providing timely distribution of information on health
matters important to the equine industry.  
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA),
established in 1863, is a not-for-profit association representing
more than 75,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate
practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed
services.
